Company E Makes US Debut Spotlighting Israeli Choreographers

On Saturday, February 25, 2012, Company E made its US debut. Founded in 2011, Company E is a contemporary repertory company focusing on national and international dialogue through the medium of dance. It is committed to building its art through engagement with the diplomatic missions from nations around the globe as well as seeking out the greatest choreographic talent at work today.

The company's debut performance featured NEXT: ISRAEL which shined a spotlight on a spectacular group of Israeli choreographers who bring freshness and ingenuity to their collection of works. Choreographers included Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar, Yossi Berg & Oded Graf, and Andrea Miller.

Many of these choreographers are associated with the Batsheva Dance Company, which has been critically acclaimed and popularly embraced as one of the most exciting contemporary dance companies in the world. Led by artistic director Ohad Naharin (one of NEXT: ISRAEL's choreographers) the company is known for its adventurous curatorial vision, distinctive choreographic voice, and revolutionary movement language, Gaga.

NEXT: ISRAEL is a collaborative venture with Company E, The Embassy of Israel, Shakespeare Theatre Company and Washington Performing Arts Society. The next performance in Company E's NEXT series will focus on choreographic talents from Spain.
