Eric Whitacre: A virtual choir 2,000 voices strong

Apr 5, 2011

Eric Whitacre, creator of the much publicized virtual YouTube choir project last year, recently gave a talk at the TED 2011 Conference in Long Beach, CA.  In his presentation, he gives a fascinating glimpse into the process of making the virtual choir piece. He also gives a sneak peak at his follow-up project, Sleep, which is set to premier on YouTube this week.

In a moving and madly viral video last year, composer Eric Whitacre led a virtual choir of singers from around the world. He talks through the creative challenges of making music powered by YouTube, and unveils the first 2 minutes of his new work, "Sleep," with a video choir of 2,052. The full piece premieres April 7 (yes, on YouTube!).
